Contemporary Eco-House

Location
South-West Suffolk

A project that involved the bespoke design of a new energy efficient, heavily insulated single storey dwelling for a wildlife loving client. The dwelling included a combination of traditional brickwork & handmade plain tiles, in combination with contemporary vertical Western Red Cedar cladding & aluminium glazing. Hot water & space heating was provided by an air source heat pump alongside a photo voltaic (PV) array with battery storage. Central to the project was the ‘natural’ coalescence of the private gardens with surrounding wild life ‘corridors' & the visual link to open countryside. A series of bio-diversity initiatives were instigated including planting of heritage variety fruit trees, wild flower planting, the creation of wild life havens for invertebrates & the installation of Passerine, Raptor & Owl boxes.
